Dear Parents / Guardians:

There are a few things coming up you should know about.

First, we have an exciting trip planned to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia for Thursday, April 12 through Sunday, April 15. A flier is enclosed with detains but we need to act fast to keep our reservations. A $100.00 deposit is due on March 5 to hold a spot for your son. Checks (only) are to be made payable to Boy Scout Troop 237 and can be mailed to:

Colonial Williamsburg Trip
323 Caton Avenue
Brooklyn , New York 11218-1603

Please list “ Williamsburg” and the name of your scout in the memo section. DO NOT SEND PAYMENT TO THE MEETING WITH YOUR SCOUT. DO NOT SEND CASH. . Please contact me personally (917 337-4723) (after 5) if you need to make other arrangements.

We also have some other events coming up:

There is a regular camping trip on March 3-5.

We are having a parents ( only) meeting on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00 PM at the Scout Center ( 243 Prospect Park West). We will be covering the program calendar for the year, merit badge counseling and we will have information for summer camp. I realize how important your time is so we only have one parents meeting each year. This meeting IS MANDATORY for one parent or guardian for each scout. There is important information about summer camp and you can save quite a bit in fees if you act early. NO DISCOUNTS WILL APPLY TO ANY SCOUT who does not have a parent present at this meeting.

Sunday, March 18, the entire troop will participate in the Brooklyn Irish American Parade. Fr Farrell is being honored and our troop has been asked to lead the Holy Name contingent at the front of the parade. We will assemble at 11:00 AM in full dress uniform at the Scout Center. No one will be excused.

Our major fundraiser, A Nite at the Races, has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 6:00PM in Father Farrell- Shepherds Hall. This is a great night out for adults and is $25.00 per person, which includes food and refreshments; tables of ten can be reserved. This is one of the four fundraisers we have each year to fund the troop program, and we need your support. Each scout family is responsible for $50.00.

I am please to announce that the Eagle Scout Awards Dinner honoring Michael Carroll, Julian Williams and Thomas Kash has been rescheduled for 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Father Farrell- Shepherds Hall. All scouts and parents are invited at no cost to this special occasion that we hope to hold for your scout some day in the future.

I want to thank the adult leaders for the great job they are doing with the troop. They volunteer countless hours to make the program successful for your sons and we hope that each of you will find a way to assist in the coming year. Many hands make light work.

Yours in Scouting,

Martin Maher,
Scoutmaster
